Since we will be moving to Portugal end of August we need to let go of our Toyota Sunrader. Here is some information in case you are interested in buying. 'Sunny' was built in 1984 in Valejo/California, she is an 18 feet long mini motorhome and in really good condition for her age.
Our model is a manual gear shift and has 142.000 miles now (we'll still use her for the next couple of weeks). It has a 22R/V4 engine and an upgraded dual rear axle which handles the weight and load of the RV much better than the single axle version.
Unlike many other major RV manufacturers who competed over maximum trailer length and spacious interior square footage, these little Toyota-based units decided to keep things small and compact. They are easy to drive and park, flexible in where to take them, fuel efficient, yet they offer all the advantages of a motorhome (bathroom, kitchen, living space).
Sunny had only two owners before us. Her first owner was a lady from LA who had her for more than 30 years (and travelled regularly to Alaska). We got her from a family in San Francisco (who travelled in her for several months, homeschooling their son, and also used her for driving supplies to Standing Rock).
When we got her she was much loved and in general in a really good condition, especially the engine. The engine was and is in great shape! Before we went on our first roadtrip we invested in several upgrades and repairs such as new tires, new house battery, propane tank, water tank and water heater. The fridge was not working anymore, so we had it recently replaced (sounds easier than it was!). We had the windows sealed and one seat belt installed in the back. We also spent many hours as a family remodelling Sunny inside, careful to keep the original charm.
This RV is perfect for a couple or a small family like us. Three sleep super comfortably in there: 2 in the cabover bed, and 1(-2) in the back where the bench can easily be converted into a bed when the table is removed. It also offers plenty of closet and storage space. Please note that there is right now only one lap belt in the back!
Our last trip with Sunny will be in July/August to Chicago where we can hand her over to her new owners in the week of August 19th.
