I would like to trade in my child’s clothes for credit. How does it work?
Gather your preloved OTO garments and make sure that there are no holes, stains, or buttons missing. Then click on the sign-up button at the left to fill out our seller’s form. We will review this form and get back to you within a few business days.
Once we confirm with you which pieces to send, we ask that you ship all items within seven days of our confirmation. Upon arrival, we will check the pieces and confirm the price within one week. As soon as the item is accepted, your shop credit will be issued.
How much do I get for the items I trade-in?
You will receive a shop credit of the price we sold your item for minus $5 shipping/ handling fee. The price we set for the used items is between 20-35% of the new price. For example: if you send us a dress from spring 2016 that originally cost $100 and it is in a very good condition, we will offer it in the shop for $35. You will receive a credit for $30. For $5, we will take pictures, write product descriptions, wrap and send it for free to the new family.
So OTO Pre-Loved is not a consignment business?
No, you don‘t have to wait for your credit until we have sold the items, we issue the store credit as soon as we offer your clothes online, it is a service to our customers. Please note that there might be reasons why we cannot accept your preloved item, for example if we have too many similar items in the shop at the moment or the style is out of season (i.e. spring dress in December).
Do you accept clothing from all brands you carry at OTO?
We are currently accepting the following OTO brands: As We Grow, April showers by Polder, Bobo Choses, Buho, Ehloh, FUB, Gray Label, Le Petit Germain, Liilu, Little Creative Factory, Louis Louise, Maan, Macarons, Maison Labiche, Marie Morenz, Merci Marie, Mimmi likes, Minimalisma, Omibia, 1+in the family, Poudre Organic, Saint James, The Animals Observatory, Tocoto Vintage, Wolf & Rita, and Yellowpelota.
My child’s garment has a very small grass stain, will you accept it?
For our trusted community to work, we must ensure that all our preloved items are in very good condition: this means no stains, holes, or missing buttons.*
We inspect all items very closely and reserve the right not to accept the clothing if the condition does not meet our standards. We will let you know upon receipt if we find a noticeable imperfection and offer you two options: 1) if you would like an item sent back to you, we kindly ask that you pay $5 for return shipping or 2) we will gladly donate the item for you to St. Anthony’s in San Francisco. This foundation offers free clothing to homeless and low-income families.
*Some parents remove tags to avoid irritating sensitive skin. If your item has a tag removed, please indicate that in your email to us. These items will be decided on a case by case basis.
Please note that we cannot accept tights and socks.
Who pays the shipping fees?
You are only responsible for the shipping fee to send your garments to our studio in San Francisco. We highly recommend a tracking service as we cannot be responsible for lost packages en route to us.
For each garment that sells, we take a $5 fee to cover the packaging and shipping cost to send the garment to the next family!
Do you make a profit on the OTO Pre-Loved program?
No, we started this program as a service to our loyal customers and to encourage the OTO Pre-Loved motto: live simply, practice sustainability, share with others, and feel good!
